you must register your animal with the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. You may reach
them by calling 746-5500 or visit their web site at
www.matsugov.us/PublicSafety/animalcontrol/index.cfm
If you live within the city limits of the City of
Houston you should contact Houston Animal Control for registration
information.
CITY OF WASILLA RESIDENTS
ONLY Applications for registering your dog or cat will
be accepted at the Wasilla Police Department, Administrative Offices, located at
1800 E. Parks Highway, Wasilla, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Upon filing
your application, the following must be presented:
• A completed Animal Registration Certificate, click
here to download application. • Proof of Rabies Immunization
in accordance with Wasilla Municipal Code (WMC) 7.16.010.C, including rabies tag
number with expiration date. • Name and telephone number of veterinary
provider. • Microchip or tattoo number if applicable. • A
registration fee of $5 for each certificate issued.
An Animal Registration Certificate is valid for
three-years from the date of issuance (WMC 7.16.010.D.1). For animals that are
tattooed or microchiped the certificate is valid indefinitely. (WMC

Currently the City of Wasilla contracts with the
City of Houston to provide animal control services to Wasilla City residents. If
you live within Wasilla City limits and have an animal control issue to report,
please contact the City of Houston at 892-6869 or 892-6870.
Please Note: the City of Wasilla issues Animal
Registration Certificates for dogs, cats, kennels and catteries
under WMC Title 7 as part of its program to enforce standards for the
keeping of animals within the City of Wasilla, for the purpose of protecting
public health and safety. The issuance of an Animal Registration Certificate has
no legal effect on any claim to the ownership of an animal. Ownership disputes
must be resolved as a civil matter through the court system.
