The Wasilla City Council recently established the Historical Preservation Commission. Applications for the commission are now being accepted. To apply please click here.
The Historical Preservation Commission consists of seven members: two members who are residents of the City, one member from the Wasilla-Knik Historical Society, one member to be recommended by the Knik Tribal Council, one professional archeologist, one professional historian, and one architectural historian/architect.Duties of the Commission include development of a local historical preservation plan, make recommendations to the planning commission about projects that may affect historic and prehistoric sites, develop a local register, and many other items shown in WMC 2.72.
