Applications are accepted at any time throughout the year. Hearing Officers who wish to be reappointed at the end of their term, will need to reapply and will be considered in the same manner as all other applicants. Consideration of your Application. Hearing Officer applications will be considered by the Mayor. Hearing Officers are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. You may or may not be contacted by the Office of the Mayor to discuss your application prior to your name being forwarded to the City Council for confirmation.
Hearing Officer names will be published with the City Council agenda in the newspaper, and the merits of the appointment may be discussed during a City Council meeting, in a public forum.
Confirmed Hearing Officers. Once confirmed, the Administrative Hearing Officer will be notified of their appointment by the City Clerk. An Oath of Office for the term must be signed.
The City of Wasilla uses Hearing Officers on an as needed basis to hear land use and animal control appeals. Should you be selected to serve on a case, you will be contacted by the City Clerk.
Terms. Administrative Hearing Officers shall be appointed for a period of three-years. There is no term limit for Administrative Hearing Officers. You will be notified upon the expiration of your term.
Compensation. Compensation for Administrative Hearing Officers is outlined in Resolution Serial No. 09-35.
