Candidate Information

Available Seats. For the upcoming October 1, 2013, Regular City Election, seats are elected at-large and are available as follows:

• City Council Seat E, three year term to expire in October of 2016
• City Council Seat F, three year term to expire in October of 2016

When and Where to File: The candidate filing period will be open from July 15 - 26, 2013, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Office of the City Clerk, 290 E. Herning Avenue, Wasilla, Alaska.

Qualifications. To be eligible to run for elective office the candidate must meet the following requirements:  

• Be a qualified city voter as provided in Wasilla Municipal Code (WMC) 4.08.010.
• Be a resident of the City, or of territory annexed to the City, for one year immediately prior to the election; WMC 2.04.020 for City Council and WMC 2.16.030 for the office of Mayor.
• If having served two consecutive terms as a City Council Member, a one full year break in service must be taken, as required by WMC 2.04.030.
• File a Declaration of Candidacy Form with the City Clerk in accordance with WMC 4.12.020.
• Provide additional proof of qualification as required by the City Clerk (WMC 4.12.010).
