On February 22, 2010, the Wasilla City Council created the Library Needs Committee through passage of Resolution Serial No. 10-10. The term of the committee is for three years, from March 16, 2010-March 16, 2013; however, the committee was tasked with giving the City Council a working document by June 16, 2010. The committee presented this working document to City Council on June 14, 2010, and respectfully requested further direction. This came in the form of Action Memorandum 10-18, which directed the Library Needs Committee to move forward with the site selection and land acquisition process for a new Wasilla Meta-Rose Public Library.
The following members have been appointed to the Library Needs Committee: Jeanne Troshynski, Friends of Wasilla Library; Mary Kay "Randy" Robinson, City Resident; Colleen Carter Scott, City Resident; and Ralph Baldwin, Borough Resident.
